Malkin is dead wrong

Sad.

I applaud them. Some “South Park conservative-” types are ridiculing the protesters. “Lighten up,” they say. But I’m with the family groups on this. The inaugural celebrations should highlight the best the GOP has to offer. A guy who, as World Net Daily points out, “dedicated his first album to songs about oral sex and who was voted the Sluttiest Male Celebrity at the 1999 MTV Video Music Awards” and who titles songs “F--- U Blind” and “F--- Off” doesn’t belong there, even if he is a rare celebrity Bush supporter.

In response to a flood of calls, the inauguration committee has apparently backpedaled, according to WND.

Good. Glad to see that some conservatives aren’t embarrassed about upholding decency.

This is exactly the kind of behavior that drives young people away from the Republican party.  Congratulations, Michelle, you’ve championed the act of alienating some more potential (R) voters.

Look, I love Malkin (a fact to which anyone who reads this blog can bear witness), but she has a stick up her ass about everything pop culture. She’s uptight from the word go.  PEOPLE HAVE SEX, AND OFTEN ENJOY DISCUSSING IT IN VARIOUS WAYS.  It’s time to accept that fact.  Elvis wasn’t always singing about shoes.

Bottom line?  Kid Rock does appeal to the South Park Republican, and without us, the GOP *will* die off one day.  Or become the ineffectual laughingstock that the Democrats have become.  And it will happen because of things like this.

He’s my president too you know.  I worked just as hard and cared just as much about the election.  Turning me away and calling me names at this stage will gain you an enemy that counts twice.  I wasn’t an undecided. I was, and still am, a registered (R).

Jeff Blogworthy has an argument that pierces the heart of Malkin’s mention of values:

Many conservatives are upset at the possibility of Kid Rock performing at President Bush’s inauguration concert, hosted by the Bush daughters. While I can understand their concern - being a staunch social conservative myself - there is an inherent self-righteousness here, which makes me squirm.

The establishment criticized Jesus for associating with “tax gatherers and sinners” and when a prostitute washed his feet, they said “If this man were a prophet, he would know who is touching him and what kind of woman she is–that she is a sinner” (Luke 7:39 New International Version.)

The sneering contempt here is palpable. If Jesus had a house, He most certainly would have invited the same kinds of people to his home. My point is certainly not to compare Bush with Christ; it is say that to reject a gift of admiration and respect from someone we deem unworthy is insulting and demeaning to the person. Graciousness demands that we accept their offering. We should follow Jesus’ example.

Bobo Blogger has a couple of things to say that make sense:

Kid Rock has some pretty raunchy lyrics, but that is not all he has and remember, we are the new party of the inclusive!

Kid Rock raises his young child as a single parent, is muli-talented, having recently scored some points with country radio, and while not the best role-model, he is a model of what one can do in America. Up from the worst streets in Detroit to fame and stardom.

Religious conservatives are not the only members of this party, contrary to what we may want to believe, conservatives come from all walks, including the likes of Kid Rock. What he does for entertainment value sould not relegate him to the depths of slime. However, while not entirely a fan of his music, and certainly not his early cuts, I still admire a working class guy who makes it big albeit as a slut! Look, we need to represent all our faces as conservatives to stay on top.

Alex at ReaganRepublican was thinking along the same lines I was:

As a proud South Park Republican I must say that as long as Kid Rock doesn’t perform those songs at the inauguration everything is fine. Conservatives really do need to lighten up, we’ll do a lot better promoting the cause to my generation if young people realize that you can be pro-life, pro-gun, and pro-marriage without being a prude who squeals every time you hear the F word.

Oh OH!  How this escaped me I have no idea.  Did you notice who is tops on Malkin’s “social conservative groups” list?  The ever-loving son of a bitch Wildmon and his “American Family Association.  A bigger pile of crap masquerading as a human being you’ll be hard pressed to find, but it seems some people have no problem associating with that kind of filth.  AFA and Wildmon are bastions of hate and repression.  Malkin should be ashamed to have that link on her website.  I may have a dirty mouth, but those people have dirty souls.
