The path to 9/11 runs through extremism, censorship and revisionist history, but does it matter?
A lot of people are up in arms about the ABC tv movie “The Path to 9/11.” Apparently, it accurately portrays the responsibility Clinton’s administration had in the events that led to 9/11. So now the left is angry, and the right is smug. For a good feel of what of the buzz is like, check out this post at Wizbang and this from Mary Katherine Ham.
Only one person on all the interw3bs accurately summed up my feelings on the matter:
Just so you know: 9/11 reset the clock for me. All hands went to midnight. I’m interested in what people did after that date, and if the movie shows that before the attack one side lacked feck and the other was feck-deficient, I don’t worry about it. It’s like revisiting Congressional debates about Hawaiian harbor security in November 1941. Y’all get a pass. The Etch-A-Sketch’s turned over. Now: what have you said lately?
Bingo. Nothing to add.

SO the left should have M Moore and do a hack job on the Reagans on top of the 9/11 commisions white wash of Clintons lack of effort and the MSM’s blaming Bush for everything but any drama showing the causes of 9/11 that have been hidden should be silenced? Remember the left is screaming becuase it makes them look bad (if its all true) and the right is smug because they are accused of censorship everytime the say Moore’s movies are lies. And you JK who are all about the first amendment have no issue with sitting Senators threatening the license of ABC if they show something the liberals don’t like? The right did not start anything, the furror is comming from the left and that should make everyone more interested in seeing it. Why does the left have the right to put out all the bullshit they want and the right needs to shut up if they try to correct the record?
Sure, let’s not care that the public be more informed so they can elect Kerry and he can talk to the terrorists, walk with the terrorists......................

PS you are well informed about polotics while at least 50% of the country has no idea what’s going on except what they see in the MSM. If the docudrama adds anything acurate to the historical record it is something the People need to see.
Of course Nacy Pelosi will make a great Speaker of the house and an impeachment of the President, ANY President for political reasons, while troops are in combat will be really good for our country!

sindri: and if it adds one accurate item while also adding 50 inaccurate items, then what? that’s ok?? hell, i don’t know if it does either of those things, but isn’t it worth looking into? if i can be on the left and HATE michael moore, you can admit that maybe there are inaccuracies on the right as well, don’t you think?
remember, that hack job on the reagans was pulled for being inaccurate, and the desire to be sure that didn’t hit the “historical record”.

Here’s the thing; No one who has seen “Path” says it’s inaccurate. Only middle to far leftist Democrats and the Clinton Camp are cying about it. Almost none of them have seen even a trailer.
That makes me wonder why they are so unbelievably upset. The Reagan thing was pure low-class: it was a hit piece designed to capitalize on his death. Blowjob Billy ain’t dead or dying.
However, I agree with jo-jo’s larger point: If it turns out to be a Moore-fest, and it might be, none of us really know yet...it should be condemned.

IF it is a political hit piece then I will e very upset too. The thing is that the left would be even more upset if it 100% accurate than if it was a hit piece. The whole purpose of the left being upset is to protect BJ’s legacy. Proof: Putting Gerelick, whatever her name was, onthe 9/11 commission.

my view of what little i know about the path to 9/11 is that it sounds like a documentary in the sense that michael moore films documentaries (ok, it’s a “dramatization” but i’m referring to the accuracy/agenda issues)
i, however, have no desire to see it for more important reasons than “he said/she said”, and while i certainly agree that events/actions of the clinton administration and the DaddyBush administration before him, etc. certainly contributed, i, for one of those rare occasions, agree with you on a political topic here, and subscribe to the notion of “what have you done for me lately?”
