Yellow cake is delicious
Remember how there was no yellowcake uranium in Iraq?
Uhh...oops?
The last major remnant of Saddam Hussein’s nuclear program _ a huge stockpile of concentrated natural uranium _ reached a Canadian port Saturday to complete a secret U.S. operation that included a two-week airlift from Baghdad and a ship voyage crossing two oceans.
The removal of 550 metric tons of “yellowcake” _ the seed material for higher-grade nuclear enrichment _ was a significant step toward closing the books on Saddam’s nuclear legacy. It also brought relief to U.S. and Iraqi authorities who had worried the cache would reach insurgents or smugglers crossing to Iran to aid its nuclear ambitions.
What’s now left is the final and complicated push to clean up the remaining radioactive debris at the former Tuwaitha nuclear complex about 12 miles south of Baghdad _ using teams that include Iraqi experts recently trained in the Chernobyl fallout zone in Ukraine.
“Everyone is very happy to have this safely out of Iraq,” said a senior U.S. official who outlined the nearly three-month operation to The Associated Press. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the subject.
While yellowcake alone is not considered potent enough for a so-called “dirty bomb” _ a conventional explosive that disperses radioactive material _ it could stir widespread panic if incorporated in a blast. Yellowcake also can be enriched for use in reactors and, at higher levels, nuclear weapons using sophisticated equipment.
The Iraqi government sold the yellowcake to a Canadian uranium producer, Cameco Corp., in a transaction the official described as worth “tens of millions of dollars.” A Cameco spokesman, Lyle Krahn, declined to discuss the price, but said the yellowcake will be processed at facilities in Ontario for use in energy-producing reactors.
“We are pleased ... that we have taken (the yellowcake) from a volatile region into a stable area to produce clean electricity,” he said.
Huh. That’s...odd. Canada bought non-existent yellowcake from Iraq? But that’s unpossible. Bush lied. Joe Wilson said so. So did every human being that is to the left of Sean Hannity...which quite frankly is most of them. I’m confused. What did Canada pay for? Air? Bush’s lies? A reacharound?

Benazir Bhutto and the bloggers
While it is obviously not a good thing and is newsworthy that former Pakistani PM Benazir Bhutto was murdered by Islamic terrorists, I have just one thing to mention about the story.
Bloggers all over the net are blogging this story like they care and they are fully informed about Benazir Bhutto’s career and politics. Meanwhile a search of archives at a few A-list blogs (that shall remain nameless) show not one post mentioning this woman before she was killed.
Actually, more than a few. I checked at 12 of the blogs I think are A-listers, three of which are far left, two of which are far right. Not a single one of them has ever mentioned this woman prior to her murder.
Remember that when you read these long diatribes about who she was and what her death means to the region, terrorism and Pakistan’s future.

Holocaust survivor trumps Dutch
A Democrat with some balls. Nice.
The Dutch are threatening to remove their 1,600 troops from Afghanistan to protest Gitmo. Dutch politicians face growing problems with Islamic youths and likely fear a L’Intifada like France suffered in 2005.
Peters said: “We have to close Guantanamo because it symbolizes for me everything that is wrong with this war on terror.”
To which Lantos apparently replied: “Europe was not as outraged by Auschwitz as by Guantanamo Bay”
Tom Lantos is a Democrat from California. He’s also the only Holocaust survivor in Congress, and he’s not taking any Dutch crap over camps and wars.
Sure, he’s a fairly liberal Democrat, which means many of his policies are in opposition to the way I think, but credit where credit is due. If the report is right and he really said this, I thank him and I hope he doesn’t even consider apologizing for it. It needed to be said. I respect him for saying it.
Imagine if this kind of thing happened all the time. We could respect politicians again, even when we disagreed with them. Wait. Has anyone ever respected politicians? I might be off on that. ;)

Not one gay person in all of Iran
Riiiiiiight...
“In Iran we don’t have homosexuals like in your country,” Ahmadinejad said to howls and boos among the Columbia University audience.
“In Iran we do not have this phenomenon, I don’t know who has told you that we have it,” he said.
That’s because you killed them all.
I cannot believe that people support this piece of shit speaking at Columbia and at the same time they scream bloody murder about Bush being anti-gay. Which he is, I don’t deny it. But I mean....he doesn’t fucking kill gay people just for being gay. That’s Ahmadinejad. And of course another lefty darling, Castro.
Consistency of logic. Everyone, and I do mean everyone, should try harder to use it.

OH CRAP ZOMG ZOMBIES
SERIOUSLY PEOPLE ZOMBIES ARE COMING
Villagers in southern Peru were struck by a mysterious illness after a meteorite made a fiery crash to Earth in their area, regional authorities said Monday.
Around midday Saturday, villagers were startled by an explosion and a fireball that many were convinced was an airplane crashing near their remote village, located in the high Andes department of Puno in the Desaguadero region, near the border with Bolivia.Residents complained of headaches and vomiting brought on by a “strange odor,” local health department official Jorge Lopez told Peruvian radio RPP.
Seven policemen who went to check on the reports also became ill and had to be given oxygen before being hospitalized, Lopez said.
Ohmygodzombies.
I’m going to hole up in Costco. Anyone wants to join me, you better get in before I weld the doors shut, because after that, fuck all of you, you are zombie food. Unless your name is Krystal Forscutt, in which case all the men in Costco will volunteer to mount a rescue using various shielding and weaponry we make out of crap we find in the warehouse, and then weld onto our golf carts/zombie assault vehicles.

One reason to avoid marriage
OMG OMG OMG OMG.
A woman set fire to her ex-husband’s penis as he sat naked watching television and drinking vodka, Moscow police said Wednesday.
Asked if the man would make a full recovery, a police spokeswoman said it was “difficult to predict.”
The attack climaxed three years of acrimonious enforced co-habitation. The couple divorced three years ago but continued to share a small flat, something common in Russia where property costs are very high.
“It was monstrously painful,” the wounded ex-husband told Tvoi Den newspaper. “I was burning like a torch. I don’t know what I did to deserve this.”
1. Living with your ex is common in Russia? Is Russia the fourth circle of frigging hell?
2. Three years divorced? My guess is, he was finally dating. And well...he’s a man. So he obviously deserved it.

Don’t put the lit candle in there, Klaus!
Poor kids…
A teenage couple having sex for the first time were interrupted when candles set fire to the girl’s attic bedroom and forced them to flee naked from her parents’ house, German daily Bild reported on Friday.
The girl had wanted to create a romantic atmosphere for the occasion. But when the room suddenly became engulfed with flames, they had to make a hasty escape.
The couple, both 18, were pictured naked in the paper among the burned wreckage of the attic. A charred teddy had survived but the fire wrecked the entire top floor of the house causing around 100,000 euros (68,000 pounds) worth of damage.
Aww, a charred teddy! These poor, dumb kids were just trying to get their Barry White on. One can imagine that they were trying to re-enact some romantic scene from some movie. Or a Rammstein concert. They are German after all. Rammstein sets fucking everything on fire. It rocks so hard.

Dog Chapman will likely not rot in a Mexican jail
Dog Chapman is almost a free man.
All criminal charges may have been dropped in Mexico against TV bounty hunter Duane “Dog” Chapman, his son and another member of his crew for capturing a convicted American rapist on the lam four years ago, TMZ reported Thursday.
A Mexican federal court had charged Chapman, 53, and the others with deprivation of liberty for seizing Andrew Luster, an heir to the Max Factor cosmetics fortune, in June 2003 in Puerto Vallarta.
A&E’s Dog site is reporting this as well.
Earlier this week the First Criminal Court in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico dismissed all criminal charges pending against Dog, Tim and Leland Chapman on the grounds that the statute of limitations had expired. The order effectively cancelled all pending charges.
They add that charges may be re-filed if the prosecution appeals by August 8 and wins the appeal. It’s almost over, and good. Dog did a great thing getting Andrew Luster off the streets, and he shouldn’t have to rot in a Mexican hell hole for it.
Call me crazy, but doesn’t it feel like some back room deal was cut? I wonder what we had to give up in order to get the authorities to dismiss the charges.

Canadian Firearms Registry a big fat failure
Two billion dollars and no results.
Canada’s homicide rate and number of gang-related murders has increased since the federal government’s firearms registry and licensing program was implemented, an indication that the program has failed to improve public safety, according to Hubris in the North, The Canadian Firearms Registry, a new report from independent research organization The Fraser Institute. “In 1995, the government promised Canadians that the gun registry would reduce total criminal violence, suicide and domestic abuse, not just gun violence,” said Gary Mauser, author of the report, senior fellow with The Fraser Institute, and a professor at Simon Fraser University. “But the legislation has failed to do that, primarily because it relies upon public-health research to justify a moralistic approach to firearms that exaggerates the danger of citizens owning firearms through pseudoscientific research methods.”
I know I wrote about this in the past. Damn, it was in 2002. Back then it was only $860 million.
Everyone I know who owns a gun predicted this would be a colossal failure. Not only has no gun crime been prevented and billions wasted, the crime rate went up. That’s not good. Scrap it. Use the money for more law enforcement to break the gangs. Stop blaming the guns and making them your focus. Make the gangbangers who use them criminally your focus.

Seriously, how is Nigeria even a country?
Between the spammer industry, the gangs roaming the streets with frigging pet hyenas, an estimated three million people with HIV/AIDS and now this idiocy, how do they manage to keep any structure together at all?
THERE is a secretive sexual practice common to both men and women, as well as young people, and it is known as masturbation. A team of scientists in Australia recently found that 98 per cent of men engage in this sexual act, while many women cannot also feign ignorance on this sexual act. In fact, they revealed that 89 per cent of females also practise masturbation. Your Health findings show that this habit is no respecter of age, as many young boys and girls are also aware of what masturbation is all about.
Many of the medical practitioners who spoke with Your Health agreed that masturbation, which is the self-stimulation of one’s sexual organ by hand or by other means to achieve sexual excitement, satisfaction and ultimately, to ejaculation, is generally, secretive, but a bad practice common with teenagers.
Though Dr. Adewale Oguntuase says adults also masturbate, but scientists have different opinions on its effect on health. Some say that masturbation is an act that must be resisted and that those already into it should find a way to stop it because it has harmful effects on the body, especially the brain.
DEAR SIR OR MADAM,
I AM THE WIFE OF WELL RESPECTED PHYSICIAN IN MY HOME CITY OF ENUGU. MY HUSBAND DIE DUE TO COMPLICATIONS OF THE MASTURBATION SICKNESS AND LEAVE ME WITH $US 9,000,000 MILLIONS OF THE AMERICAN DOLLARS. I WOULD LIKE TO SHARE A PERCENTAGE OF THAT WITH YOU FOR SAFE STORAGE OF THE FUNDS AND I WILL MASTURBATE YOU FOR YOUR TROUBLE. ALTHOUGH THAT MEANS ME AND YOU BOTH MAY DIE AS NIGERIAN MEDICAL EXPERTS HAVE TOLD.
Now, in fairness there are some reasonable people who aren’t complete fools or utter criminals in Nigeria. I think one is mentioned in this article. The rest reads like a 1950s marijuana pamphlet. Jerkin’ it KILLS! You will go INSANE! IT’S FINGERBANG MADNESS! RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!
Nonetheless, other dangers of masturbation as spelt out by medical experts include psychological guilt. A chance masturbator stands the risk of nervous-depressing permanent insanity, premature death, especially for those with high blood pressure, diabetes, blood diseases, inability to perform sexual act naturally, etc. Other dangers attached to masturbation sexes include inability to pull out of the act. It has even been documented to cause more deaths among boys in Europe than any plaque or war. Masturbation also results in total loss of sexual feelings and desire due to lack of sensation when it is time to actually engage in legitimate sexual intercourse. Quick, early or premature ejaculation is also one of the rewards of regular masturbation.
In girls, the breast development is arrested or retarded and the individual also stands the risk of experiencing spinal irritation resulting from epilepsy as a result of loss of seminal fluid in a male.
Oh dear. I sha’nt ever touch myself agai////damn. Good thing I can type with one hand.
