DEA aware of Chris Benoit’s Excessive steroid purchases

This is bad.

Wrestler Chris Benoit was identified by Drug Enforcement Administration agents as an “excessive purchaser of injectable steroids” who, over the past year, was prescribed a 10-month supply of anabolic steroids every three to four weeks by a Georgia doctor who was indicted today on federal charges.
In the affidavit, DEA Agent Anissa Jones reports that pharmacy records show that, from May 2006 to May 2007, Astin prescribed Benoit, on average, “a 10-month supply of anabolic steroids...every three to four weeks.”

He wasn’t just juicing.  He was super-juicing.  God only knows what else he was taking.  Toxicology will tell the tale, I suppose.

WWE Wellness is a farce.  If the DEA knew, WWE knew.  They always know, and we all know they know.  It’s time to turn a blind eye to their business, just like they’ve turned a blind eye toward the workers that make them millions and millions of dollars in profits every quarter.

Stop supporting WWE with your money.  Make sure any indies or TNA know you will not support juicers.  Most of TNA’s roster isn’t jacked up...let’s try to keep it that way.  Enough is enough.  Your money means everything to these people.  Don’t give it to them if they continue to foster an industry where wrestlers are forced to juice in order to get the attention of those who make the decisions.  Vince McMahon’s male fetishes have killed enough people.

Chris Benoit, wife and son found dead - UPDATED

What the

WWE wrestler Chris Benoit, his wife and son were found dead Monday and police said they were investigating the deaths as a homicide.

Lt. Tommy Pope of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department said the three were found at their home about 2:30 p.m., but refused to release details.

Pope said results of autopsies on Benoit, his wife Nancy, and 7-year-old son Daniel were expected Tuesday.

Benoit, 40, was a former world heavyweight champion, Intercontinental champion and held several tag-team titles over his career.

“WWE extends its sincerest thoughts and prayers to the Benoit family’s relatives and loved ones in this time of tragedy,” the federation said in a statement on its Web site.

Benoit was scheduled to perform at the “Vengeance” pay-per-view event Sunday night in Houston, but was replaced at the last minute because of what announcer Jim Ross called “personal reasons.”

Benoit, a Canadian native, maintained a home in metro Atlanta from the time he wrestled for the defunct World Championship Wrestling.

I can’t even process that.  Donna met him once at a diner with Eddie and Chavo Guererro, and now Chavo is the only one left.

What the hell?  His whole family?  Is this a home invasion?  Some weird fan?  A mistress gone mad?  A total fluke?  I can’t even fathom what happened here.

Benoit was one of the most talented guys in the business.  He worked his ass off every time he went out.  It took him years to get to the top, and it could not have happened to a better guy.  When I think about who I would want to jump ship and go to TNA, Benoit is always at the top of the list.

That guy could have been a legit fighter if MMA existed when he was 20.  He was tough as hell, athletic as hell and willing to drive himself to the brink just to put on a good show, and we will miss him.

Here’s the night Donna met them all in a diner in Cromwell CT, all because they picked 91 instead of 95.  The boys was lost.  :)

*UPDATE*

Holy fucking shit.  Chris killed them and then killed himself.

Chi versus fist

OK, this video is sad, but it’s also hysterical.  On the one hand, you feel bad for the old dude.  On the other hand, he’s one of those fake “I can beat you up without touching you via the power of my chi” idiots.  He bet the equivalent of $5,000 that he could beat any MMA fighter with the power of his non-touch chi technique.

He got punched in the face.  Repeatedly.

Scratch one idiotic myth and any possible scams based on it.  My favorite part is how shocked the old man seems after the first punch.  Also note how little the MMA guy wanted to continue.  He knew thsi was just beating on an old man, but hey, when the idiot challenges you and offers to pay you, you punch him in the mouth.

Randy “The Natural” Couture - a god walks among us mortals

I watched Randy Couture put on a clinic last night (the fight was Saturday, I just watched it last night).  At UFC 68 Captain America, - age 43 and back up to heavyweight from his earlier 205 class fighting trim - took Tim Sylvia, the then-reigning heavyweight champ, and beat him like Tim owed him money.  On his feet Randy scored strike after strike after strike, seeming to get inside Sylvia’s huge reach advantage, laying in left hooks and right crosses at will, then ducking and weaving back out and rarely taking a hit in return.  It was definitely a new side to Couture, and obviously something he learned through losing to Chuck Liddell.  Randy put Tim on the ground almost every single time he decided it was time.  Sylvia, for all his weight and height, was outclassed in every way.  Sylvia is no slouch on the ground - he has submitted people in the past - but Randy basically just mugged him.

It was a thing of beauty.  Randy The Natural Couture may just be, with this new stand-up ability, the best all-around MMA fighter to ever live.  If they ever decide to allow different weights to fight again, I think Randy could beat Matt Hughes and Royce Gracie.  If he keeps training stand-up, I think he could have a shot at Liddell.  Imagine if he asked Dana White to let him drop back down to 205 and took that belt too?  He’s held them both before, just not at the same time.  Now that would be a damn story right there.

As it stands riht now, Captain America is hands-down the best thing to happen to MMA since Royce and his family came up with the idea.  I am very glad to see him come out of retirement and happy for him to do it with such resounding success.

Your new heavyweight champion of the world...Randy, The Natural, Coutuuuuuuuuuuure.

Super Bore XLI

Yeah, I care.  I played football my whole life.  I was a pretty typical football dork for many years, but somehow over the last decade or so, I have lost my love for the game.  I used to be that kid who played in the street.  When I was like 11, we made our own Stick-Um and played full contact Nerf football in the street in the fall, wearing as many sweatshirts as we could get on for padding.  I watched high school football, grew up to play high school football, had a favorite NFL team since I was like 6...At one point in my life I considered the fact that I saw the Buffalo Bills exact revenge on the Giants in Rich Stadium the most fun day of my life.

Now?  I couldn’t care less.  I love the idea of football, but watching a game is an exercise in tedium and stupidity due to 3 hours of commercials and crap and around a half-hour of actually televised gametime broken up into 45 second chunks.  Plus, you have to listen to “analysts” and “color men” who neither analyze nor add color.  Further ruining the game for me is the fact that I know that 99.95% of the people I am looking at are either genetic mutants on exotic drugs, or simply big dudes on an even larger array of exotic drugs.  May as well build robots and set ‘em against each other.

Speaking of which, I miss BattleBots, dammit.

Best Super Bowl XLI related thing I read anywhere?  Over at Jawa, there is a post titled I Support the Colts, Not Their Mission.  Genius, that.

Bam Bam Bigelow died

He was kind of a legend.

Kevin Doll, the Public Information Director for the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Bigelow was found dead early this morning in his home in Hudson, Fla.

“We can confirm that Scott Bigelow was found in his home this morning. At this time the cause of death is unknown,” Doll told WWE.com.

Doll also confirmed that the Pasco-Pinellas Counties medical examiner has taken the body and an autopsy will be performed.

We met him once at a show, really nice guy.  I fear, however that drugs will be involved when the autopsy results are revealed.

Rowdy Roddy Piper diagnosed with cancer

Damn.

Canadian professional wrestling legend “Rowdy” Roddy Piper has been diagnosed with lymphoma and will begin undergoing treatment immediately.

In a statement posted Monday on Piper’s web site, the 52-year-old Saskatoon native said doctors found a cancerous tumour on a disc in his spine. Back discomfort had forced Piper to leave World Wrestling Entertainment’s tour of Europe and return to North America two weeks ago.

“It seems like I have been fighting someone, something, someplace, in some manner, my whole life,” Piper said in a statement. “But this fight is one I am gonna win!”

Piper was overheard telling the tumor that he was “here to kick ass and chew bubblegum” and that he was “all out of bubblegum.” Witnesses say the tumor cried a little.  Later, Piper said that Chuck Norris and his tears were pussified and that only the Hot Rod could cure cancer.  With his mind.

Good luck, Hot Rod!

Tito stops Shamrock cold

I wanted to blog on this yesterday, but the video refused to upload. Got it now...so the other day Tito Ortiz & Ken Shamrock had their final fight, the brawl to end it all. As expected, Ken got hammered. He really should have retired about 18 months ago.

What bugged me was Tito's attitude right as the match ended. I got why he did the gravedigger thing...he deserved to be able to put that stamp on this envelope. What pissed me off was he felt the need to flip Ken off. Look, you won. You humiliated a legend with your superior skill. You did the gravedigger gimmick...let it go there.

Ever since I saw Tito on Ultimate Fighter, I've had a change of heart about him. He was really only a prick to Lion's Den fighters because of the way they treated him. He's a great coach, an excellent corner man and he's finally serious about fighting again. Unfortunately flipping Ken off only makes everything people say about Tito true. Ken was actually trying to be respectful and shake Tito's hand.

Now, as you'll see, Tito thought twice about it and sincerely apologized before leaving the ring...so there's that. Hopefully he'll see the tape of the show and realize he didn't come off very gracious in victory. He'll also see a picture-perfect Team Punishment fight. Takedown, punish against the fence, get the knockout or stoppage.

Ultimate Fighter

So like...I’m rooting for Team Ortiz.  I’m finding myself liking Tito as a person and a coach.  I’m disliking Shamrock as a coach.  I’m...surprised.  I have hated Tito for a long time.

SPOILER AHEAD
