It just happened
At 4:30 AM, I had this huge idea leap into my head mostly formed. It’s a way of doing the Starkcast again without committing to a grueling 30-60 minute show that involves anywhere from 40-60 hours of prep.
It kind of just sprang into my head, mostly formed. i have an outline, a beginning, and end, a middle, some plot points, even a few ideas on dialogue. I think it might actually work. OK, now I can sleep…

Ricky Gervais 2x02, 2x03
Another miracle. Somehow the show just keeps getting pirated.
Get this: I paid for a subscription via Audible. However, when I went to sync my iPod, it refused to sync 2x02, Audible’s security bullshit claims that it is DRM’d under a different account than 2x01 or 2x03. Which is, of course, bullshit. So I was forced to crack the DRM just to listen to the show I paid for. Great job, Audible.

I don’t know how it got there, but…
Wasn’t me. I’m just passing along the link. I broke down and joined the Audible ten-bucks-a-year thing so the Gervais show only costs me $5. I find that reasonable, and the discount I get applies to all Audible content. I’ll use it two or three more times over the next year and get my money’s worth.
By the by, I was absolutely going to break the Audible DRM and post the shows somewhere, but someone beat me to it. I literally had the mp3 ready and was composing a Usenet post when I thouht “Maybe I should see if it’s been posted already.” And it was.

Welcome to piracy Mr. Gervais
No sir, I don’t like it.
English comedian Ricky Gervais is cashing in on his top-rated podcast—a free, downloadable radio show—by signing a deal to sell future episodes through Apple.
The Ricky Gervais Show, which also features his writing partner Stephen Merchant and their comic foil Karl Pilkington, has been among the top podcasts on Apple’s iTunes Music Stores in the United States and the UK.
...
Season Two, “with added drivel,” will be sold from Feb 28. Episodes will cost 95 pence each or 3.75 pounds for the four-episode season. In the United States, they will sell for $1.95 each or $6.95 for the season.
I’m a huge Gervais fan. I worship Merchant and Gervais. I think they’re brilliant and the podcast is hysterical. I refuse to pay $2 a show. No freaking way. Too much. I’d pay *maybe* 5 bucks for the “season” of 12. That’s pushing it.
Do we have to listen to ads for Positive Internet and The Guardian and the BBC if we’re paying? Bet we do. Bollocks to that. Welcome to the wonderful world of piracy, Ricky. You just made thieves out of your fans. Cheers, mate.

Gervais podcast in the record books
He’s got two hit series, two Golden Globes and too many Baftas to mention. But now Ricky Gervais has a world record after his podcast became the most downloaded ever.
Gervais’s weekly show on Guardian Unlimited, featuring writing partner Stephen Merchant and sidekick Karl Pilkington, averaged 261,670 downloads a week during its first month.
The Ricky Gervais Show will be included in the 2007 edition of the Guinness World Records’ book - as long as no other podcast tops it before it is published in the autumn.
“The podcast is the thing we have most fun with at the moment - more than Extras, The Office, or The Simpsons,” said Gervais.
“Karl wanted to charge a quid [for each show] and now we have got 5 million downloads. He is gutted. He gave up his job to do this. I might give him something.”
Poor Stephen Merchant...he’s as vital to the success of Gervais as Gervais is, and the poor guy gets left out of every piece of media about The Office or Extras, and now the podcast. :)
If you’re not listening to The Ricky Gervais Show...go. Now. They’re almost done with the first run. 12 episodes, then they break to make Series 2 of Extras. It’s frigging hysterical...Gervais and Merchant, and even Karl, deserve the recognition.

SERVER TROUBLE
If you’re looking for Lee’s site...it’s down. Someone is SLAMMING it with traffic. To save the rest of the box, I shut it off. Working on it! Be patient.
If you’re looking for starkcast.com...it’s moving. Go to the libsyn backup for now. New show posted literally moments ago!
