Heroes - Volume 2
Before I cobble together thoughts on the “finale” from Monday...I’m curious. Show of hands; how many people are disappointed with Volume 2? How many here think it was awesome? Feel free to be specific or just voice a general opinion.

I like the volume two. It was a little slow in the beginning, but I thought the first season was slow to begin with as well.
All in all, I like it...Shame the season will not continue because of the writers stike.

I really enjoyed it. Yes it did start slow but it had enough moments of awesomeness to forgive that. Even with the few hiccups I still think it’s the best show on tv right now. Hopefully next season they learn from their growing pains and really out-do themselves.

I have a few issues for volume 2, but overall I liked it. I think one drawback is our expectations really. We have a world here where there are these people with superpowers. And because of that we are expecting some grand climatic battle full of action. But Heroes has never really been about action, its more character driven and about suspense. Definitely good, but I think our expectations sometimes leave us expecting more than what the show is trying to be.

The problem was it was--very obviously--rushed. They either saw the strike coming, or cheated a bit and wrote some of it after the strike happened and reshot some bits. Several things looked to be longer storylines cut short. Especially Noah locked away with no one knowing he’s alive, Hiro out for revenge, the whole big plague story was cut in half, Maya’s realization Sylar was evil, and so on.
As my brother mentioned to me, there were also plot holes galore they could have easily filled. (Like why didn’t Peter just read Adam’s mind to see his true intentions--it would have been easy to explain how Adam could be ready for that--much like Mama Petrelli.)
No--this one was rushed. They did the best they could given the restraints, but it was no winner.
I bet they know that, too.

I agree with Capmeister (not so surprising, considering we’re brothers) on pretty much all the points he made.
This season was decent, but unlike last year where I absolutely *had* to watch it Monday nights, this season I found myself easily waiting until Tuesday or Wednesday to watch it on DVR.
Not to say this season was terrible, but it could’ve been so much better. The writers of HEROES definitely made some mistakes, and here’s hoping they’ll get to fix those mistakes when Heroes Vol.3 comes out.

Agreed with Capemeister on the show feeling a bit rushed, however it’s better than it dragging.
The arcs that didn’t work for me: Parkman’s father, Claire/Flyboy, Mohinder(Lil’ Bitch), and Peter abroad.
The arcs that needed more, but were good: Hiro/Kensai in Japan (needed at least six full episodes), Micah in New Orleans, anything with Jessinicki, Gold guy/Lightning daughter, and the twins.
The arcs that were cool: Parkman/Flyingman Investigation, Peter/Adam/Hiro, Mama Petreli, Present Hiro, Sylar, and Noah (almost Chuck Norris status).
If I had to rate the seasons as they are:
Season 1: 9/10
Season 2.1: 8/10

First half was dull. Second half was better. Lots of plot holes. Overall, flawed, but watchable.

Noah (almost Chuck Norris status)
Noah Bennett doesn’t actually need glasses. They just keep him from killing everyone around him with his DEADLY RAPTOR GAZE…
...and it begins.

2 was light a freight train… slow to start, but once it got going it generated a lot of momentum!
Once again, though, the writers have shown they can’t write a final scene/battle/confrontation… so they don’t try.

Auds also seemed to grow tired of “Heroes,” which went into a sophomore slump, helping ensure a bumpy launch for the sluggish “Journeyman.” And while crime drama “Life” garnered good reviews and a full season order, its ratings are middling at best.

Gotta go with everyone else here and say that while it was slow in starting, it sure did pick up at the end. The only thing is that I wonder how it might have gone w/o the writers strike.
And, something wonderful I found on the web…

Is Leia’s Slave girl outfit the greatest geek spank moment or what?

I think Hiro’s method of “dealing with” Adam/Kensei was pure comic book. And I cheered when I saw it. True justice, simultaneously merciful and cruel beyond comprehension. Stephen King couldn’t have done better.
I also wouldn’t bet any money that Jessinikki is actually dead.
I don’t understand why Matt Parkman wasn’t monitoring the minds of those around there at the end, sniffing out those who didn’t “belong”, or why Peter didn’t just instinctively fry the gunman who shot his brother, just like he did in that bar in Dublin a few short weeks ago for a complete stranger…
The beginning of Chapter Three - “I’m ba-ack...” - also bodes ill for most of those who we care about. And Mohinder, too, I suppose…
