I need this bumper sticker
While I will NOT suffer from New BDS - Barack Derangement Syndrome - I just thought of something I kind of want on my car. Not so much as a protest against Barack Obama, but more as a protest against what the Republicans did (and will probably still do until they wise up or implode) to good and decent men. I want this on a bumper sticker:
Yeah...I’m all sorts of funny.
That having been said, I will NEVER play that “He’s not MY President” game. Barack Obama will be my President. What concerns me much more is that my Congress is full of old-school demagogues and big, BIG spenders with no one to stop them. If you thought Pelosi and Reid were unconscionable before? Shit...you ain’t seen nothin’ yet.
Be far more worried about Congress than what Obama may or may not do. And with that I congratulate Obama, his supporters and retire for the evening to hunt through the Wastelands of D.C. for a dog to keep me company. [/fallout3] I’m sure there’s a lesson in there somewhere, or a metaphor or something. You figure it out...I’m gonna go play. ;)

To refer to the president, whether you approve of him or not, as “my” president (with or without the “not") always seemed to me like abuse of grammar anyway. Technically speaking, I would never think of the president as “my” president. I don’t have exclusive ownership rights, nor do I want them.
That said, I get the gist of your point. He will certainly be the president. Pretending he isn’t won’t change that.

How about the bumpersticker “I’d Rather be Bitching about Hillary”

Mclame proved that spineless “can’t we all be friends” campaigns won’t work. Of course the return of Black Panthers to “guard” the polls in Philly shouldn’t cause a concern right? Funny how there was no stolen election this year.
I used to donate to all kinds of charities. My answer to them now will be “Call the government, I gave at the voting booth”
It appears at least 1/2 Amerikan people apparently like being lied to and will buy any crap as long as it looks shiny and new.
The RNC is a disgrace. I could have out debated Obama. At least one thing is clear from this, The RNC is 100% out of touch with the people as they showed they have no idea how to get a message across.
It is a very sad day for this country when Iran is happier about our new President than 1/2 or more of our population

DON’T BLAME ME, I WANTED TO VOTE FOR FRED THOMPSON

Some other profound words to remember.
“It may have been the losing side. I’m not so sure it was the wrong one.”
And I’ll be putting in my dvd’s or flipping on hulu later to make sure I quoted correctly.

All day long I’ve been tossing back and fourth, how should I react? I’ve basically become irrelevant in my own state. I’m sick of the eight years of hate coming our way. Most of the day I was trying to find a way to be OK with it. A way to rise above and be more mature about it than they have been.
But then, on my way home I saw a 1/20/09 sticker (I commute between CT and MA so it was pretty much inevitable) and it all became perfectly clear.
SCREW THAT! I’m mad and I’m going to point out every flaw, every lie, everywhere this administration comes up short. I think it will be a fun couple of years.
To start, Today - Stocks have dropped more than they ever have the day following a presidential election.

How to react? The only thing that made me feel better, and I’m not sure why it did was this:
http://www.americanrhetoric.com/speeches/ronaldreaganatimeforchoosing.htm
If you can listen to that and not feel pride in the Country, even though I DO NOT want to, then there is something wrong.
If it stirs something, like it does for me, then we will be OK. The next 4 years will suck bad, but we’ll be OK.

you don’t need to have new BDS, just sit back and he will take care of it him self, then you can say I told you so, and watch them squirm.

I disagree with the statement
By saying “their president” or “our president” we are being just as racial divided as ever.
The “Not my President” thing has been floating around forever, it is not based on race. It is based on party affiliation.
I do agree that Barack Obama is THE president, whether I like it or not.
This is kinda fun.
Today’s proof that it was a bad decision.

Here it comes: 3 days and it begins. First it was Patriotic to dissent and now it’s racist. The sad truth is we can sit back and watch as the liberal press and all of the libs implode. Mattews has declared the 1st amendment irrelevant as NOW it’s time to do everything possible to help a President succeed and being the objective watchdog of the people is tripe. Really? Wouldn’t the time after 9-11 have been the time to root for America? As I remember it Fox was trashed for having an American Flag showing the whole time during the coverage of the war by these same people.
The message I have gotten so far is: “We’re here for the people unless they don’t agree with us.” I can’t wait for the “Citizens National Security Force” to be created to “protect us and our rights”!!!!

What if Obama does change America for the better? What if he does stop our economic crisis? What if he does solve all the problems America has faced for the past 8 years of President Bush’s administration? What will you say then?
I’ll say wonderful. But I’m clearly not as deluded as you as to think that will actually happen. His associations demonstrates his lack of judgement, or the wrongness of his judgement.

Show me the support and encouragement Bush received from the left. He may be the President but that doesn’t mean I am forbidden from criticizing him. And he is an inexperienced Chicago machine corrupt politician that should have his campaign fundraising investigated.
You don’t like it? Well dissent is patriotic and all that bullshit. Just know I’ll be criticizing him for his policies and tactics and not resorting to claims like saying he looks dumb or looks like a chimp, you know like the left has done for the past 8 years.

I will say the same thing I said before the bailout. Let the market work! What no one seems to remember about Clinton’s “great economy” is that he got very lucky. The Internet started by happenstance while he was in office so his policies could not damage the economy. This mess was created by the government and will only get fixed by itself, unless the government keeps messing with it. If Messiah Obama “fixes” this mess it won’t be his doing. The Government only really has the power to screw up the economy. The way they fix it is by getting the government out of the markets way.
The real issue in this country is the media. Their role is to provide WE the people with the information we need to make informed decisions about our country. They have decided to take that away from 51% of the population because that 51% is not intellectually curious enough to watch anything but the evening news and the media is now deciding what information to share, what to hide and what to spin in the direction they want. Any mistakes or broken promises Obama makes will be reported to the masses as things he had to do because George Bush made such a mess.
Our founding Fathers realized how important a free press was and how powerful it is but never imagined that the press en mass would become a propaganda arm of one of the parties. Since a free press IS so important and powerful, and has been almost wholly corrupted, I’d say there is very little to be optimistic about. Most of the people I met who voted for Obama said they were doing so because it was time to stop the rich people from taking advantage of the country. That is a very mean and angry reason to vote as they did and that was fueled 100% by the liberals in the media. Demonizing Fox News, The Fairness doctrine being applied only to talk radio are the ways they will attempt to take full control over what we know.
I can stand by the will of the American people when I know they are making informed decisions. When they are voting for a President for the same reasons they vote for American Idol this country is in very serious trouble.
What’s that quote from Star Wars? “So that’s how Democracy dies, with resounding applause” is what we are looking at. Just wait until our new President needs “special powers” because of the mess George Bush left so he can fix everything ala Chavez.
No, if you love this country and the freedom it once stood for then you will not be optimistic you will be gearing up for a fight where the future of the principles this county was founded on will be under direct and relentless attack.

Well said, Sindri.
And while we’re on the topic of media acting as
the Obama ministry of Information…
*************************************************
It seems that, in the wake of the election, the mask of media bias
has begun to slip, a bit.
No one will argue that a major factor in Barack Obama’s victory
was the public perception that VP hopeful Sarah Palin had a less
than stellar I.Q.
The source of that perception, fed upon by network media outlets
like starving piranha, was the admission by “McCain staffers” that
Palin was woefully ignorant on key simple facts- such as the statement
that she did not know Africa was a continent.
...Only, it turns out, now, that this story was entirely fabricated.
MSNBC, who broke this bogus story, is now issuing an apology. (conveniently,
after the election is over) They are stating that they did not know
that the quoted McCain staffer, as well as the “conservative think-tank”
foundation he headed, were entirely fictional, invented by a pair of
aspiring liberal filmmakers, who hoped, in their words, to later launch
this character as the basis of a film.
MSNBC spokesmen claim the error came from the fact that the story was not
“properly vetted” before airing.
Once the story broke, other major news outlets did not bother checking
the validity of the story’s quoted source, either. They simply repeated
what MSNBC reported, and moved on.
During the 2004 election cycle, some may remember, a similar scandal
broke when iconic anchor Dan Rather was caught using his own bias
during the, now infamous, “memogate” or “Rathergate” dust-up.
For those who do not remember, Rather’s story on President George Bush’s
military service, and an accusation of Bush going AWOL, then having it
covered up, was quickly discovered to be a complete fraud by diligent
bloggers. Rather was caught using counterfeit documents as the backup
of his false story, and was later forced to resign in the ensuing scandal.
So now, again, the election cycle has brought to light the ugly visage
of a media firmly entrenched in the back pocket of democratic politicians,
as MSNBC, already the lowest-rated cable news network, faces the prospect
of losing whatever small amount of credibility they still held, in the
wake of it’s attempt to manipulate American voters through slanderous
non-stories.
MSNBC pundit, Keith Olbermann, was quoted as saying, “Who cares? News
is what we say it is. The important thing is, we got Obama elected.
Now, don’t ever question my objectivity or journalistic integrity, ever
again, or I swear, I’ll whine about it, endlessly, on national TV!!!”
*Author’s note*:
**That last part, clearly, was a joke. The rest is completely true.**

Artmonkey,
I think the difference with Palin as opposed to the thing with memo-gate, is that the media learned their lesson with memo-gate. The lesson learned though was “get the lie out there, let it simmer to get into the public perception, issue retraction and give it almost no coverage.” The Africa thing is now out there and people are going to believe it. Any criticism of the MSM and they’ll say “but we issued a retraction, SEE!” Afterall people still believe the memo-gate story.
That last part, clearly, was a joke. The rest is completely true
Only the truth is funny. And there is a lot of truth in your joke.

And suddenly ABC found Bill Ayres and interviewed him.
The media is counting on the pathetic attention span of 52% of the American people. They know if they do everything they should have done but do it now so close after the election, then 4 years from now people will remember that ABC DID interview Aryes and won’t be able to tell you if it was before or after the election. Memory is a funny thing and all everyone will know is that they did see his interview and that it didn’t affect the outcome of the election so there was nothing there.
I am actually starting to suspect that none of what the media does is by accident. Their companies values are dropping and the first black President will get more people to watch and buy papers. I really wonder whether they care about anything but their own survival and importance. 8 years of hating Bush was getting old and they know they couldn’t sell 4 years of hating Mclame as well as they could sell the 1st black President. Remember, they built Mclame up to help him win the primary when Thompson was clearly the choice for almost every right thinking person I know. Did they do that because they knew Mclame would lose to the dem or did they like him and then change their minds? Of course they’ll claim he changed but that was their spin on what he said not really his changing.
I am not into conspiracy theories at all but if you look back at the past 2 years was any of this the will of the people or was it the will the media created?
So how do we put this right? Right thinking people, like those who post here, maybe should consider running for office. The reason that would fix things is because when the founders set this up, serving as an elected official was an inconvenience (not a get rich quick scheme as it is today) and people who do it because they feel they have to will not go there with the goal of perpetuating their own power and they will vote on Principle, as was intended.
My favorite quote from the HBO movie John Adams has come true: “The Peoples business must be done, if wise men won’t then others will”! Well, the “others” are now in full control of our government and soon our lives. Will we stand up and take back OUR government or behave like the 52% of sheep and just go about our lives angry about the liberties and money which they are taking away from us?

Dear americans
Welcome to Europe!
Enjoy your welfare benefits and shorter work hours! I am glad you now understand that war never solves anything and that talking is the only way to solve problems. I am glad that you now agree that the state is the answers to all your problems and that from cradle to grave it should support you. I am pleased that you have elected a president that understands that world opinion is what matters first, not America’s. We welcome America with open arms back into the fold of the United Nations. We are also pleased that you are progressive enough to realise that partial abortion is not an abomination but something that should be practiced nation wide. We applaud your brave decision to disallow Union workers the right to secret ballot.
You are now as smart as a european. Congrats!
( :P )
