Dog’s a racist
This is disappointing. Before anyone starts in and says that the PC police are setting up another victim, listen to the tape. He’s forcing one of his sons to break up with his black girlfriend if the kid wants to come work for Dog. Chapman actually says “I’m not gonna take a chance, ever in life, of losin’ everything I’ve worked for for thirty years cuz some fuckin’ nigger heard us say “nigger” and turned us in to the Enquirer magazine.”
Uhh…
No getting around that one. That’s not a casual use of an innocent word. You can hear the hate and bile in his voice when he spits it out. There is no excuse for that. None at all. Now I feel like a stupid bastard for ever caring about his legal problems or his show. Oh, and he’s reaching out to black leaders to teach him how to fix this. Whatever. First of all, most of the “black leaders” are racist pieces of greedy shit themselves. Secondly, it’s too late. You hate black people, Dog, and you taught that hate to all ninety-seven of your kids and grandkids and who the hell ever else lives in your giant houses.

Hey.
We’re going to need some affirmative action legislation here to make sure that Dog chases down just as many black bail jumpers as he does white ones.
Wouldn’t want him to professionally discriminate against anyone just because they are black.

why is it that when someone is outed as a bigot, the first thing they do is reach out to the group they insulted for “help” and then go to racial rehab? give me a break.

Apparently Dogs Pastor before this happened is black. And apparently in that phone conversation he talks about how her race isn’t the reason he doesn’t like her but her character.
So choosing the worst word to insult someone you don’t like, or actually being racist? I don’t know, either way he shouldn’t have done it, and he’s dumb for going to consult with black leaders.

I know it’s not politically correct to prejudge people based on their appearance or part of their behavior, but guess what? 99% of the time it fucking works. It’s because many, many times in our lives we’ve seen people who look and act like fuck-ups, and then - surprise! - they turn out to be fuck-ups. After awhile, we start thinking to ourselves “Self, you know, if someone looks or acts fucked-up, they’re probably a fuck-up!” Gee, amazing how this learning thing works. Seriously, grow some brains people.
I gotta go with Erik on this one. Dog deals with shit for a living, I am around trash every fucking day and I hate them. The story is the same every time. Boo hoo poor me, make bad choice/decision over and over again, feel sorry for me, government give me money. Nigger=White Trash=Spic=Honkey=Gook=pick one. Trash is trash. This pc shit is off the charts, I don’t have to like anyone and I can have any reason I want not too. Halle Berry can’t crack a nose joke about Jews without feeling guilty, whatever. The US of A is no linger a melting pot, is a NON integrated society by each minorities choice, with few exceptions.
The kid is an adult, he can make up his own mind. Dog has, he may be wrong about this chick, if he has seen her family then he is more informed than we are.

I heard the tape again on the radio on the way home. He prefaces his remark with “She’s black and I use the bleeping n-bleep word around here occasionally.....
Sounds to me like he is just trying to cover his ass. His A&E;gig got suspended just by talking about it. I guess he had a good reason to worry didn’t he?

Are we really at the point where one race can use a word freely and if a person of another race uses it he must suffer complete professional collapse? Does using the word nigger really make you a racist? If I say “i nigger rigged the exhaust to get through inspection” or Nigger please” to a white guy should I have all future employment chances destroyed? (That’s why he was worried about the girl)
Where does it stop? If a white guy is on the bus singing “nigga done stole my ho” or whatever bullshit they put on cd’s, do we label him racist and ban him from busses forever?
Nigga Please!!!!!

Yes we are at that point. If you are a North American you know what that word is about, what using that word will cause if you are not of African decent & why it shouldn’t be used. I mean come the fuck on Don Imus, Dog The Bounty Hunter & Michael Richards are all grown ass men. They know better than to use that language especially when talking to or about some who is black. Let’s be real about it, just because some inner city kids run around calling themselves that doesn’t mean it’s okay for the word to be used by ADULT white men. By the way I’m black & I’m not dissapointed by the remarks Dog made, I know plenty of people use that type of langauge when they think they can get a way with it. That’s more cowardly than anything. But what does dissapoint me is that a bunch of inner city kids most of whom have a low or lower level of education can influence abunch of ADULTS weither they are WHITE, BLACK, ASIAN or BROWN to use a word with such a harsh & painfull historical revelance in OUR modern day history. By the way I’m not suggesting Dog learned that word from a rap song because we all know he learned that from his father but what I am saying is that just because it’s become cool to say now & has been brought back into pop culture by blacks doesn’t make it exceptable for anyone to be saying it. But If anyone gets a fucking pass for saying it....they would probably have to be black.
P.S saying the word nigger doesn’t make you a racist, it just makes you an inncentive piece of shit who obviously doesn’t have the vocabulary or the intellegence to come up with something more creative. I mean fuck post number 10 is acting like he should start a civil rights protest over it being exceptable for him to use the word nigger.....Does it kill you that much to just not say it??

But nothing racist about this, is there? I mean, since only white people can be racist and all…
Does it kill you that much to just not say it??
If anyone is allowed to say it, everyone should be allowed to say it. Otherwise we are treating people differently based upon their skin color, and we all know what the definition of that is. (Conversely, if anyone is banned from saying it, then everyone should be, and there goes the First Amendment...)

You can call me a Spic all day long. I’ve got a good life. A loving wife, 2 foster kids, a good job, (4 weeks vacation). I’m happy.
So who’s the idiot for underestimating you as simply a nigger? Or do you believe that shit yourself?

Am I particularly surprised? I can’t say that I am. When you’re job’s to hunt down criminals on the run, you don’t exactly build up a healthy exposure to a wide cross section of various societal groups upon which to build a broad opinion. You see the worst of those groups everytime to encounter anyone from those groups.
Does that excuse it? Not in the least.

1# “Because only white people can be racist right??” This is just a stupid comment because I never implied that at all & you know that.
2# All racial slurs shouldn’t have a place in the english langauge but you are right your ALLOWED to say it. Your allowed to say whatever you want you little smart ass. What I said is that it wasn’t EXCEPTIABLE for anyone to say it. But the word does have a little less of a sting when it’s coming from another black person (just sounds as stupid as your first comment) wouldn’t you say? Hold on wait your probably not black are you? So maybe your the wrong one to ask about that eh?
3# People ARE treated differently based upon there color STILL but you already know that don’t you. From the sounds of it you might be experiencing that right now. (Now I will insert your kind of sarcasim right here) But hey maybe if it’s cool for everyone to say nigger we’ll get rid of racism & we’ll all get along???
4# I never said that the word should be banned, so your first ammendment right is safe. All I was saying is that it shouldn’t be used but I agree Dog & every other (sarcasim) redneck should have the right to say use the word. My personal opinion is just that they shouldn’t.
5# As for Dr.King spinning in his grave over this. I doubt it. But if he is than so be it, I was always a Malcolm X fan myself.
& Fangbeer I don’t care if you don’t mind be called a “spic” all day thats you business.
But I do agree with what your trying to say.
The only way to take the power out of the words spic or nigger is to impower yourself. But there is also a thing called self-respect that won’t allow me to be called nigger all day & not care.
and as for....."So who’s the idiot for underestimating you as simply a nigger? Or do you believe that shit yourself?”
WTF do you think??

Your self respect is not dependent on the respect of others. In fact, self respect is completely independent of what other people think of you.
If you truly concern yourself with whether or not someone you don’t even know thinks you’re a nigger, then yeah, that is a sign of doubt evident in your own level of self respect.

I mean come the fuck on Don Imus, Dog The Bounty Hunter & Michael Richards are all grown ass men. They know better than to use that language especially when talking to or about some who is black.
Imus didn’t call anyone a nigger. He said a bunch of basketball players looked like nappy headed ho’s. I’d take that as being the equivalent of saying that a men’s basketball team look like a bunch of thugs. Somehow though, referring to someone’s hair as nappy is now racially insensitive and the equivalent of calling them niggers. Would the uproar have been as great were they all white and he said they looked like trailer park sluts? Didn’t think so.

Supposedly Chapman didn’t like the girl because of her character? I dunno. I tend to think he’s careless with language and not a racist. I could be wrong.

This is just a stupid comment because I never implied that at all & you know that.
Not you, pal. The University of Delaware.
Your allowed to say whatever you want you little smart ass. What I said is that it wasn’t EXCEPTIABLE for anyone to say it.
Operating under the assumption that you actually meant “ACCEPTABLE”, you are contradicting yourself. If you are allowed to do something, it is, by definition, “acceptable”.
You seem to be conflating “acceptable” with “inoffensive”, and that is not necessarily true.
And I’d rather be a smartass than a dumbass.
But hey maybe if it’s cool for everyone to say nigger we’ll get rid of racism & we’ll all get along???
You mean that if we treat all the various ethnicities the same, we won’t be racist anymore? Gosh, what a novel concept. The moment you say “you cannot do that because you are a different color”, you are being racist, and I don’t care what color skin you have when you do it.
I never said that the word should be banned.... All I was saying is that it shouldn’t be used
Gee, thanks for clearing that up for us.
{/sarcasm}
But if he is than so be it, I was always a Malcolm X fan myself.
No doubt. I would rather be the type who judges a person on the worth of his character than the color of his skin. Malcolm didn’t necessarily believe that, and from what I see, neither do you.
Racism is just fine, so long as you are the one benefiting, eh?
But there is also a thing called self-respect that won’t allow me to be called nigger all day & not care.
An insult is like a drink - it can only affect you if you accept it.

Quite a load of doublespeak excuse-making in this thread.
There is NEVER any circumstance where it is OK to bark out “some fucking nigger” the way Dog did. Period. End of fucking statement.
There’s “free speech” (which has never been and will never be unlimited, and therefore has socially acceptable and unacceptable variations) and there’s horribly-offensive-and-you-goddamned- well-know-it-so-stop-making-bullshit-excuses

My point exactly. If something is unconditionally offensive, then NO ONE should be allowed to say it.
If, OTOH, we’re issuing/denying permission to use certain words/phrases based on the skin color of the speaker, then it is 100% raw-gum racism, and that is not acceptable, either.

Wow! What more can I say? I am an African American professional woman, with a MBA, Ph.D. I liked watching the show and felt Dog was “sincere”. I was impressed how he was in prison and turned his life around. I mentioned Dog in my past public speaking events, when I spoke to inner city youth, at-risk teenagers, people with disabilities, and/or adults facing various life changing situations. In my book draft, I “had” a quote from one of Dog’s shows. While one comment may not mean Dog is not “sincere” it certainly makes one “wonder”. Being in the public eye one has to be very cautious what one says. I understand the conversation was “private”, however one almost has to act like they are on “video camera” 24-7. Moving forward hopefully Dog can learn from this incident?----it shall be like a correction-of-errors, per se???
Almost nothing is impossible----thus, Dog may be able to keep his show and many of his fans, but Dog and A & E TV have a long, twisted, hard road ahead of them. Dog may want to do what Denny’s did and hire African Americans to his staff and/or have the African American girlfriend that is dating his son on the show??? Not sure----but something definitely needs to be done to turn this “negative” into a “positive”. Thank you so very much for your time.

Hey people, when you work in the enviornment DEog does you start to act like the people you find there. Sorry but that is fact. When I worked as an inner city paramedic we, without trying, picked up the language and inflections of the people we dealt with the most. In other words we FIT IN. When that type of language is used by everyone you work with or come in contact with you look like an outsider when you don’t use that language and believe 9it or not, in many inner city enviornments, looking like an outsider is dangerous to your health.
Dog was worried this girl would hear him talking like everyone he was dealing with and would cause a big stink. Guess what? He was right even though she wasn’t the one who put it out there.
If some people here are too stupid to realize it is actions and not words that make you racist that is sad. Words can be hurtful but buying into the PC crap that if you use a certian word your entire character and lifes work is suddenly all a lie, is just simple thinking and no different than the type of thinking that causes real racism.

Sindri:
While I appreciate your post, I have to respectfully disagree with one point and that is “we act like we who work around”, that is not true. I work around and with people that use profanity all day long, but I REFUSE to subject myself to that type of language or similar behaviors.
My Grandmother use to say “You can live in the ghetto, but the ghetto does not have to live in you...” What my Grandmother was trying to tell us (her grandchildren) is that we (African Americans) do not have to act like the behaviors or stereotypes that are usually common in lower income areas, such as having 10 babies by 10 different men, or using drinks, drinking on the corner, acting uneducated, etc.
Your surroundings do not necessarily mean you have to adapt to them, you can always set the bar higher and not act like your peers.
While in college I lived in a “BAD” neighborhood, folks stealing, 99% of them on some type of gov’t/state aid program, 85% unemployment rate, tons of cussing, lots of domestic violence, all sorts of abuse, etc., although I lived in this neighborhood, worked in this neighborhood, I refused to act like the majority of the people in this neighborhood, thus I moved forward and upward. It can be done.
Also your point brings about another new argument, in that; “if one works with people who commit adulterous extramarital affairs, use drugs, commit crimes, lie/embellish, make off color jokes, etc.” your argument is saying that one should or would assimilate and/or accept these behaviors as being “okay” and adapt to them? Maybe I am reading too much into your post, but one could misconstrue your point, Sindri.
We tell our children all the time “you don’t have to fit in” or “you don’t have to give in to peer pressure”, but that may not be 100% correct, according to the recent post or professional opinion.
Just my two cents, not a debate or anything. I mean it’s not like I am getting paid to post or anything. Smile.
Have a great afternoon.
I will be logging off, it’s NFL Sunday! :)
Thanks.

Dog was worried this girl would hear him talking like everyone he was dealing with and would cause a big stink. Guess what? He was right even though she wasn’t the one who put it out there.
Have you perhaps heard the phrase “Don’t do the crime if you can’t do the time”?
This is not an innocent little gaffe somebody blew out of proportion. This is him getting violently upset about his son dating a woman who wasn’t white, and calling her a very, very offensive and despicable word because of it.
And yes, it’s not a good thing that black people use that word either, but whining about it as if it were an excuse does not change the fact that it’s a despicable word, and that a certain portion of the black community also uses it doesn’t make it “okay” to use it, especially since Dog was not using it in its “cool” variety but was instead using it as the insult it is. He wasn’t trading hand-slaps with a black friend and saying “Yo, what’s up nigger?” He was shouting “I hate that fucking nigger!”
The whole “they say it too” is a petty excuse by people who, most likely, would still be thinking and saying “nigger” anyway. It’s the equivalent of some kid getting dragged to the principal’s office and wailing “But little Jimmy peed on the floor too!” when little Jimmy whizzed on the bathroom floor, while you took a piss on your teacher’s shoes with a smirk on your face.
Dog said something despicable, and if the station wants to take his show away over it due to negative public reaction, that’s well within their rights, just as it was the stations’ right to pull Garofalo or O’Donnel because of their offensive statements.

Your surroundings do not necessarily mean you have to adapt to them, you can always set the bar higher and not act like your peers
I’m not sure what type of job you do but in some jobs (bounty hunter, paramedic, cop) you must not be an outsider. These are high risk jobs and the lesser quality people in those environments will take advantage if you look like an outsider IE weak.
My point was more that using a word, no matter how hurtful, does not make you a racist. Saying our government does dumb things does not make you unpatriotic (unless you say it while in another country with the intent of harming the country. If someone donates 50% of their salary to minority causes but when talking about a bad black person says nigger but never says it when talking about blacks as a group are they really a racist?
If so, Black people can never order crackers with soup because many whites find the term cracker very hurtful. Doesn’t matter if they mean food, it is simply a black person using the word cracker. Spic & Span must be pulled off the market now so Spanish people aren’t offended ---See how silly that is.
Remember the DC city councilman who was fired for use of the word “niggardly”? He was white and it wasn’t until someone looked in the dictionary did anyone realize how stupid it was to fire him.
Racism exists and it is a bad thing but when we equate racism with being racially insensitive we minimize the true danger of real racism. Just because you use the word does not mean you ARE a racist. It does mean you are doing something dumb.

Thanks for the nice comments DR.C. Sorry I am in the DC area which may explain why I get so upset with political correctness and oversimplification of serious issues. I enjoy a challenging debate without the name calling and try to give that same respect to those with an opposite view when I can.
The biggest lesson I have learned living in DC is that there are no grownups in charge here! What our government dearly needs is some adult supervision and since our media is just looking for dramatic headlines the only way people will begin thinking is to challenge the thought process created by the media.

Oh fucking please. You’re telling me that someone who chases bail-jumping criminals for a living, dresses like an extra in The Road Warrior, and insists that everyone call him “Dog” isn’t a model citizen?!?? That he’s a bit fucked in the head? I’m shocked! Shocked, I say!
Maybe the next surprise you’ll spring on me is that professional fighters suffer from ‘roid rage and other violent streaks and then occasionally snap and murder their families when they’re not busy using their wives as punching bags. Or that music stars that dress like 12-year old goth bitches make poor husbands.
People, this is like an IQ test. If you see someone like “Dog” and don’t immediately think “Gee, that’s one fucked up motherfucker.” then you’ve got a low IQ. Of course the side of themselves that they publicize is all cuddly and noble and misunderstood, but jeez! Seriously! Just because they’re famous doesn’t except them from the rule that people who act seriously fucked up in some ways are nearly always seriously fucked up in others. In fact, it’s even more likely with famous people because they have the money and power to buy people off / intimidate them / lawyer them to death / bury them in the desert. Plus, people love them because they’re famous and so they have less incentive to change and /or seek help.
I know it’s not politically correct to prejudge people based on their appearance or part of their behavior, but guess what? 99% of the time it fucking works. It’s because many, many times in our lives we’ve seen people who look and act like fuck-ups, and then - surprise! - they turn out to be fuck-ups.
